Missing the Branches for the Roots...

True story (and there is a point):

I am very sore right now.  Being very busy this summer we left our backyard get overgrown.  The man we bought the house from was a landscaper, so there's a ton of 'stuff' back there.  We left all of the stuff go wild - and not only did the stuff get unruly, but significant weeds grew.

And I mean unbelievable weeds.  Some of these weeds were larger than me.  They were like trees in their woody structure.  At the base they were almost as big as my wrist.

Some I was able to dig out...  But some were so large and unruly, that I simply couldn't get to the root.

What did I do?  I could have sat around, wringing my hands about not being able to get at the root.  Instead, I started where I could, practically.  I needed to get them out.  So I grabbed the weed and my hatchet, and literally chopped the woody branches away.

Once this was accomplished, I was in a much better position to get a shovel in there and work on the root.  Some roots I simply couldn't get all the way up.  So, doing the best I could - I hatcheted away at the root in the ground.

What's the point of my story?

There are complementarians out there who are arguing that we cannot support a woman candidate in the hopes of ending abortion.  They use the analogy that we're "Supporting the root to strike at the branch."  They believe abortion "cannot" end until we get at the root.

I think this is unbelievably ridiculous reasoning.

To hack away at the evil branch and cut it off is called PROGRESS.

Would we be finished?  No...we all agree on the need for the ultimate destruction of the root.  But we'd be closer than we would if we sat around complaining about not being able to get at the root.  Plus, on the upside - millions of babies would live.

To say that we cannot end abortion because we'd be supporting feminism is the most pessimistic thought that I've heard since I read that all 7 dispensations, including the church and Christ's "kingdom on earth", all end in FAILURE.

To give up on the chance to end this holocaust because everyone in our nation doesn't agree on the issue of feminism is utterly untenable.

I apologize to everyone who I offended while reading this.
